MAGNESIA, PLATO'S UTOPIAN CITY IN CRETE
10 years of levka ori art projects in the cretan mountains.

the philosopher plato situates the city of his dreams "magnesia" in crete.
fascinated by the idea of this utopian and autonomous city, levka ori org creates an event presenting the results of 10 years of international creative encounters by artists, philosophers and scientists in crete, held in a wonderfully harmonious site in the mountains which happens to have the same characteristics as described by plato.

the highlight of the exhibition is a panoramic view of the site plus a high definition slide-show of artworks. plato's idea of autarchy is proposed by an overview of the latest technology for free energy.

    sinds 1995 komt een jaarlijks variërende groep kunstbeoefenaars, filosofen en wetenschapslui uit verschillende landen, samen in het kretenzische 'levka ori', de witte bergen, een site in een weids landschap, dat precies dezelfde karakteristieken vertoont als plato's utopische stad "magnesia".
    gefascineerd door deze opvallende gelijkenis stelt levka ori.org nu de resultaten van 10 jaar creatieve ontmoetingen tentoon.
    de indrukwekkende stilte van de site wordt gesuggereerd door een 16m brede foto, high definition slide-shows van pretentieloze landart creaties, grafisch vormgegeven poëzie en soundscapes, terwijl plato's ideeën omtrent autarchie te vinden zijn in 'free energy' technologieën.
